Director of Preconstruction
The Director of Preconstruction is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day preconstruction operations, driving consistency in estimating and project planning, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This role bridges executive leadership and project-level execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables, strong team performance, and alignment with company goals.
• Establish trade partner/bid coverage strategy and accountability.
• Oversee daily operations of the Preconstruction Department across all offices.
• Manage and mentor Preconstruction Managers, Senior Estimators, and support staff.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy in conceptual budgets, design-phase estimates, and GMPs.
• Establish and maintain department standards, processes, and best practices.
• Support pursuit strategy, including participation in go/no-go decisions and proposal development.
• Collaborate with Operations, Business Development, and Executive Leadership to align project strategies.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and interviews as a senior technical leader.
• 12–18 years of experience in construction estimating or preconstruction, with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in CM-at-Risk delivery, conceptual estimating, and design-phase cost control.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
• Proficiency with estimating software, cost modeling tools, and data analysis.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required. Professional certifications such as LEED AP or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) are a plus.
